Our Vision
Our vision at ICAIR is to serve as a beacon of knowledge and enlightenment, dedicated to advancing scholarly understanding of Islam in a global context. This institute envisions fostering an environment that promotes rigorous academic inquiry, critical thinking, and open dialogue among scholars from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds. It aspires to be a centre of excellence where researchers delve into the rich tapestry of Islamic thought, history, and culture, seeking to bridge the gap between traditional Islamic scholarship and contemporary challenges.
The vision extends beyond the confines of geographical boundaries, aiming to create a global network of scholars collaborating to address pressing issues facing the Muslim Ummah (community). Ultimately, the institute aims to contribute valuable insights that enhance the understanding of Islam and its principles, fostering a culture of tolerance, inclusivity, and intellectual exchange.
At ICAIR, our mission statement can be summarised as:
- To bridge the divide between the Community, the Seminary and the Academy
- To promote the study of Shi’i Islam in western academic contexts
- Provide the KSIMC and, by extension, the global Shi’i community with intellectual resources drawn from the Shi’i tradition to face the challenges of living in the modern world.
